Are you looking for a fun and safe way to let your children enjoy messy play? Look no further than Muddy Oobleck!

This taste-safe ‘mud’ is perfect for sensory play, offering a unique (ok, slightly weird) texture that kids will love. It’s easy to make with simple ingredients you probably already have in the pantry.

Benefits of Muddy Oobleck for Sensory Play

Muddy oobleck sensory play benefits children by enhancing their sensory and motor skills, it encourages scientific curiosity, and supports language development. It fosters creativity, provides calming effects, and promotes social interaction, making it a fun and educational activity that is important for overall child development.

Creating muddy oobleck is a fantastic way to engage your children in sensory play while keeping it safe and fun. So, lets get to it!

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups of cornflour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder

How to Make Muddy Oobleck

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cornflour and cocoa powder. Mixing these dry ingredients first helps ensure an even colour and texture.
  2. Gradually add the water to the dry mixture, stirring constantly. The consistency should be thick and goopy, similar to mud. If it’s too runny, add more cornflour; if it’s too thick, add more water.
  3. Play time! Pour your muddy oobleck into a sensory bin or a shallow container, add some toy animals and let your kids explore. The texture is both solid and liquid, providing a unique sensory experience.

To make clean up easier and quicker, make sure your child is wearing one of our Craft Aprons or a pair of Coveralls. When they’re finished, simply slip them off and they will be clean underneath.
