Pasta Easter Egg Decorations for Kids

Easter is the perfect time to get creative with kids, and crafting is a fantastic way to make memories while celebrating the holiday. One craft that’s both fun and easy is creating beautiful pasta Easter egg decorations. This project is simple, affordable, and a great way for little hands to make something colourful and unique. It’s perfect for all ages too — from curious toddlers to creative teens (though the finished masterpieces might look a little different depending on who’s crafting 😉).

How to Make Pasta Easter Egg Decorations

What You’ll Need

  • Thick cardboard
  • Pasta shapes (penne, macaroni, or any other shape with texture)
  • PVA glue or a hot glue gun (parent supervision needed for hot glue)
  • Paint (acrylic or tempera works best)
  • Paintbrushes

Instructions for Creating Your Pasta Easter Egg Decorations:

  1. Cut out egg shapes from cardboard. Punch a hole near the top if you plan to hang your decorations once completed.
  2. Arrange the pasta on the eggs in fun patterns. Use PVA/craft glue (or a hot glue gun for older kids) to secure the pasta pieces in place.
  3. After the glue has dried, paint each pasta piece with colourful shades. Allow the painted pasta to dry completely.
  4. For an extra touch, get creative with glitter, stickers, pom-poms, or other craft supplies.
  5. Once everything is glued and painted, let your pasta Easter eggs dry fully. Once dry, hang them up, place them in a basket, or display them on your table for a fun and unique decoration.

Why Pasta Easter Egg Decorations Are a Hit:

We love that this craft is not only easy but it’s so easily personalised through colour choice, patterns and even the pasta shapes you use! Plus, it’s an activity that’s great for kids of various ages, as younger children can help with gluing pasta, while older kids can take charge of the painting and design. The best part is that pasta Easter egg decorations make for lasting keepsakes that can be displayed year after year. They also offer an opportunity to teach kids about creativity, patience, and fine motor skills as they carefully arrange the pasta pieces. And just to prove it really is for all ages… here’s a toddler’s colourful masterpiece in all its glory!
